Before we embarked on this adventure, we spent a long time thinking about what kind of business would feel worthwhile to work on for the rest of our lives. We wanted to create something that we believed in completely, something we could live, breathe, and dream for a lifetime. Superbrain Organics is the result of many inspired conversations in service of that intention.

Although it's impossible to distill our full life energy into an easy to understand mission statement, our purpose and core principles are the closest we've come to communicating how we aspire to move through life with Superbrain and beyond.

Purpose: Superbrain Organics exists to create a more compassionate world through nutrition and education.

A more compassionate world is a place where all living beings are treated with dignity and respect. It’s a world where we show kindness in our everyday actions, help those who are vulnerable, and make choices that reduce suffering for everyone, including animals in factory farms. We work together to create fairness, protect the voiceless, and build a future where the intrinsic value of every living being is respected, making life better for all.

Core Principles: Be Just, Be Kind, Keep Learning. These principles guide everything we do, you can learn more about what they mean to us on the “Our Story” page.

We realize that these are grand ideals and we certainly haven’t figured out how to fully integrate them in every aspect of business and life. Human life is messy and complicated, and trade-offs exist everywhere. The choices we make each day cannot help but have an impact on the world around us.

We all eat, pretty much every day if we’re lucky. As consumers in a capitalistic society, we also vote nearly every day for the kind of world we want to live in — we vote with our dollars. When it comes to food, sometimes we vote in ways that improve the health of our family, the farmers who grow our food, and the ecosystems that make life possible, other times we vote in ways that harm all three.

We sincerely believe that purpose-driven business can be a force for positive change in this world. We do not believe this is easy to accomplish, and we are prepared to encounter continuous resistance in the form of large corporate interests, personal mistakes, and cynical perspectives. Nonetheless, we believe that through patience and perseverance we will become stronger, using every experience as fuel for continuous learning and improvement.

As a start, we created the Superbrain Organics Operating Agreement, which defines our foundational business commitments. Alongside a legal obligation for all team members to honor the Superbrain purpose and principles, this agreement includes a 5-1 salary cap for all full-time team members, meaning no one in the company can receive more than 5x the total annual compensation of the lowest paid full-time team member. In 2024, the average CEO-employee pay gap in America was approximately 268-1. We were inspired to integrate this structure by our fellow purpose-driven business friends at Dr. Bronner’s.

We also intend to build this business without outside investors, so we aren’t beholden to the relentless pursuit of profit. While this will require us to build slower and stay lean, we believe maintaining full operation integrity will be well worth it in the long run.

We believe we are all kids at heart and seek to operate in a way that inspires and celebrates our inner child and the children around us. Children are the future and we must do our best to help them realize their true potential as human beings.

More than anything else, Superbrain Organics is an expression of love. Our vision is to grow Superbrain for as long as we can and never sell the business to a third-party. If life allows us to work on this project until we retire, we plan to transfer 100% of ownership to a dedicated social purpose trust to continue the work of creating a more compassionate world through nutrition and education.
